Heavenly Father knew that we would sin. He had a plan, the Plan Of Salvation, also called the Plan Of Happiness. He sent His son Jesus Christ to earth to be an example to us, to atone (pay the price… suffer) for our sins then die for us. Christ was resurrected and we are promised that we will be resurrected also. It is very comforting to know that death is not the end... That there is life after this one!
None of us will leave this earth sinless. There will be a time when each of us will sit at the judgement seat of Christ. Imagine the conversation that will take place... Our biggest regret would be if we did not apply the atonement in our lives... If we did not ask for forgiveness for our sins. Spencer W. Kimball said "God is merciful, but He is also just".
It is easy to only see a small picture of what's
going on from day to day or week to week. We are slow to remember that we
should be refining ourselves, bettering ourselves so that one day we can return
to our Father in heaven in good standing. We forget to talk to our Father in
heaven. Prayer keeps us connected to Him... close to Him. The scriptures are
one of the ways he speaks to us. That's why it's so important that we read
them.
What a wonderful thing to know and understand.
Is it easy? No! Not for anyone. Harder for some... The distractions are
endless. To name a few… Pride, money, temptations of every kind, busyness of our world and sometimes we're just lazy... But it is worth it!
